Foster with Ruff Draft

Our foster program is the heart of Ruff Draft Inc. Dog Rescue. As a foster-based nonprofit, we rely on dedicated foster homes to provide dogs with a safe, supportive environment while they prepare for their forever families.

The Process

What Fostering Means

Fostering provides dogs with the chance to decompress, learn routines, and show their true personalities in a home setting. Some dogs are with us short-term, while others may need a little more time and patience before becoming game day ready.

What Ruff Draft Provides

We set our fosters up for success. Ruff Draft covers:

  • Veterinary care, including spay/neuter
  • Age-appropriate vaccinations
  • Deworming and microchipping
  • Guidance and ongoing support from our team
  • Access to the Foster Portal where you can view your fosters medical record and set foster preferences and black out dates.

What Fosters Provide

Our foster families provide:

  • A safe, loving home environment
  • Daily care, basic training, and socialization
  • Transportation to veterinary appointments or meet-and-greets as needed
  • Honest feedback to help us make the best adoption match

Foster Timelines & Situations

  • Some dogs may be in the locker room, awaiting spay/neuter, and can be fostered during that time
  • Others may be medically cleared and simply need a foster while waiting to be drafted onto their forever team

Why Foster?

Fostering saves lives, opens space for more dogs in need, and plays a critical role in responsible rescue. You’re not just providing a temporary home you’re helping a dog build the foundation for a successful future.

“We foster so every dog gets the chance to learn what it means to be safe, to be loved, and simply to be a dog… then they join their forever team.”
