adoption information
Adopting a dog is one of the most rewarding decisions you can make. At Ruff Draft Inc. Dog Rescue, we work hard to match every dog with the right forever home.
On this page you will find a list of our currently available dogs, a step-by-step guide to our adoption process, and our adoption fee structure.
Our goal is to make the adoption experience simple, transparent, and focused on finding the best possible match for both the dog and their future family.
The Adoption Process
The Process
1. View Adoptable Pets
Browse our available dogs and find a potential match.
2. Complete an Adoption Application
Applications are reviewed within 24–48 hours.
3. Meet & Greet
Approved applicants will be invited to meet the dog
4. Dog Status Determines Next Steps
You can view any dog’s current status by checking the location listed on their individual profile.
In the Locker Room (Pre-Surgery):
- Dogs that have not been spayed or neutered are not yet eligible for adoption.
- While they are awaiting spay/neuter they may be placed on a pre-surgical hold for $200 this would guarantee that you get to adopt when they are available. This fee is applied to their adoption fee.
- Some dogs may also be eligible for foster placement until surgery is complete.
Game Day Ready:
- Dogs who have completed all medical requirements are available for immediate adoption. These dogs can go home immediately.
5. Finalize Adoption
Adoption paperwork is completed electronically, and the adoption fee is paid via debit or credit card. Hold fee is applied toward the total when applicable.
6. Draft Day
Your dog is officially drafted onto their forever team—and goes home.
7. Join our Post Adoption Group on Facebook
Check your adoption packet email for a link to join the Ruff Drafted Group!
Adoption Fees
Adoption fees vary by age and include all age-appropriate medical care, including vaccinations, deworming, and spay or neuter. Some dogs may fall into special categories such as Long-Term Resident or Sponsor Pups.
Fees
Puppy 8 Weeks – 12 Months
$450
Adult 1 – 5 Years
$400
Senior 6 Years +
$350
Long-Term Resident
$225
Dogs who have been in our care for more than two months receive a reduced adoption fee. A longer stay doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with them—sometimes it simply takes longer for the right family to come along.
Sponsor Pups
$950
Some dogs naturally receive more adopter interest due to factors such as breed, age, size, or availability. These dogs may be designated as Sponsor Pups and have an adoption fee that is higher than our standard adoption fee.
The additional portion of a Sponsor Pup’s adoption fee helps offset veterinary care, food, supplies, transportation, and other everyday expenses while also helping support programs such as Long-Term Resident which allows our pups to find the homes they deserve as quickly as possible.
