Ruff Draft Inc. Dog Rescue was founded on January 21, 2026, with one goal in mind: get dogs off the sidelines and onto their forever teams.
We are a foster-based, 501(c)(3) approved nonprofit rescue, led by a committed core board and an all-star roster of foster homes. By operating without a traditional shelter, we’re able to focus on personalized care giving each dog the time, training, and support they need to succeed.
From intake to adoption, our focus is preparation and placement. Dogs enter our program, spend time in foster homes to decompress and develop, and complete all necessary medical care before becoming game day ready. Every dog’s journey looks a little different, but the end goal is always the same: a strong, confident transition into a forever home.
At Ruff Draft, rescue is a team sport. We believe in clear communication, responsible decision-making, and working together with our community to create winning outcomes—for dogs and the families who welcome them home.

Waldo
Waldo was the founder’s beloved dog and the heart behind Ruff Draft. Though he passed in July 2025, his spirit lives on as the inspiration for our logo and our mission to give every dog their forever team.

Volunteer
Ruff Draft is a foster-based organization, and our volunteers are a vital part of helping dogs move from a rough draft beginning to draft day. Whether you love hands-on work or behind-the-scenes coordination, there’s a role for you on our team. Volunteers must be at least 10 years old with parent supervision or 16 years old with parent consent.
